McFarland Recreation and Park District
awarded $177,000 for renovation of the
community gym.
The funding is being awarded by the State of California, The Natural Resources Agency, Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Office of Grants and Local Services (OGALS) through Prop 68. The grant made funds available for local park rehabilitation, creation, and improvement grants to local governments. Grant recipients are encouraged to utilize awards to rehabilitate existing infrastructure and to address deficiencies in neighborhoods lacking access to the outdoors.  MRPD submitted plans to replace the basketball court, as well as the restrooms and lobby. We are hopeful the funding will cover all of it. The gym floor was the main project submitted. So, we will begin there. It will take awhile for us to have the funding in hand so stay tuned. This is exciting news for McFarland.
July 20, 2020

It is almost funny that July is Parks Make Life Better Month! Usually, this would be a great time with the swimming lessons, free swim, water aerobics, baseball, softball, t-ball and more. But, we are completely shut down except for maintaining our parks and facilities (and paying bills). Unfortunately, we do not see an end to COVID-19. It will end, but when? We all need to take the virus seriously if we want to get back to normal (or at least close to it).

Weight Room Closed

A person with ties to MRPD has tested positive for COVID-19. Staff has been given guidance to self-quarantine or get tested. We will post on social media when we will open again. The virus is hitting close to home. Please be safe!
