We may move into the orange tier this week, which would open more things.
What we are doing/planning:
1. Planning and starting a walking club (if
you are interested email Jeff Nickell at
2. Planning for softball, baseball and t-ball
for the end of May/early June
(our regular time)
3. Yoga Classes
4. Conditioning Program
5. Cheerleading or Dance
Gym Renovation is out to bid. The project will
be completed in 2021.
The funding is being awarded by the State of California, The Natural Resources Agency, Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Office of Grants and Local Services (OGALS) through Prop 68. The grant made funds available for local park rehabilitation, creation, and improvement grants to local governments. Grant recipients are encouraged to utilize awards to rehabilitate existing infrastructure and to address deficiencies in neighborhoods lacking access to the outdoors. MRPD submitted plans to replace the basketball court, as well as the restrooms and lobby. We are hopeful the funding will cover all of it. The gym floor was the main project submitted. So, we will begin there. It will take awhile for us to have the funding in hand so stay tuned. This is exciting news for McFarland.
MRPD submitted a $6.6 grant proposal to construct a new aquatics center (Keep your fingers crossed. We should hear something by the end of the year).
